In 1978 she obtained her Diploma in Architecture at the Architectural Association in London. And in 1989 she obtained her PhD in 1989 at Oxford Brookes University with a thesis was on the windcatchers of Yazd in Iran.〔 (Susan Roaf profile ) at Research Gateway.
